For my senior seminar project, I was fortunate enough to design and implement a social media plan for a nonprofit that is very close to my heart, LoveU2Pieces. LoveU2Pieces provides support for children and families living with Autism spectrum disorders. Founder, Leigh Rolnicki, was looking for funding to jumpstart a new program within LoveU2Pieces that would educate kids on the importance of healthy living.
With this in mind, I designed a social media marketing and online fundraising campaign called Activate LoveU2Pieces. This campaign included a month of social content on Facebook and Twitter platforms as well as a Classy crowdfunding campaign. This project was examined through the lens of Social Networking Theory which develops the Marketing Mix originally proposed by McCarthy to suit organizations with socially charged goals and services. Over the course of the month, we exceeded our fundraising goal of $500 by raising $567. Additionally, we increased engagement on Facebook and established a growing following on Twitter for LoveU2Pieces.
